May 18th – Jay Rail Road Bed Ride sponsored by Julie Anderson.
This ride will take
place at the Jay Rail Road Bed. The terrain is fine gravel and sand mostly,
horses without shoes should do fine. There are no hills and it is very easy
going. We will probably encounter some 4-wheeler or mountain bikes along the
route. Ride time will be around 4 1/2 hours with lunch being held in Farmington. There
is a small store with a Dunkin Donuts for coffee and coca as well as a deli
for hot/cold sandwiches and pizza for lunch.
Remember to bring your
halter and lead ropes.
Directions: From all directions, access Route 4 north/south to
Jay. Once you come to the center of Jay, stay on Route 4 until you come to the
McDonalds and the old Ames Shopping Center. Parking is in the gravel parking
area to the left of Ames.
If you are the first to arrive, head for the far back corner.
