| Hi everyone,
We are going to be adding some new sections to
our web page this spring and we need everyone’s help to make
it wonderful. Here are a couple of our ideas:
- Check lists:
What to carry in your saddle bags on a 4 hr trail ride, 8 hour trail ride,
and weekend trail ride.
What to carry in your trailer for these rides.
What do you use to pen or stake your horses out with for lunch breaks or
over night stays?
What type of containers do you carry your hay & water in?
- A helpful hints page for trail rides.
One suggestion was to pack your grain in serving size zip lock bags so you
can reach in, grab one, and take it out to your horse. Saves you from having
to go get the bucket first. And of course, re-use them on the next trip.
- List
of toxic plants for horses.
I have a list but would like area photos showing the plants. Your horse might
not grub on them under normal circumstances but when hungry after a long
ride and enclosed in a much smaller space than normal, they might.
Cornell Univercity has an excellent page on plants that are poisonous to
horses but it covers a lot of plants not found in New England. We would like
to narrow this list down so it would be more helpful for us when we ride
in Maine. You can view their page at:
http://www.ansci.cornell.edu/plants/horselist.html
We would appreciate photos taken of local plant life. You can either mail
the photo to me at Leesa Lavigne, PO Box 175, Richmond Maine 04357, or send
it by email at Leesa@LoveItSimple.com.
I will organize the information for the web page later this spring.
If you can think of any other categories that
we should have posted on the web just let me know. You can either
email me at Leesa@LoveItSimple.com with
the information or use the handy dandy form below.
The Maine Trail Riders would like to wish everyone
a happy and safe trail riding season!
After submitting the form you will be returned
to this page with a blank form so you can then submit another hint.
