About the Maine Trail Riders Association

and our clubhouse.

Background:

Kakadjo ride in 1999 The Maine Trail Riders Association was formed in 1957 by a group of people with a sincere interest in horseback riding. For many years the group met wherever they could find a place in the Litchfield area. After many years of hard work, fund raising, and planning, a club house was built on Lunts Hill Road in Litchfield ME.

Yearly events included a spring and fall club sponsored weekend trail ride from the club house, a spring horse show at the clubhouse and a fall show at the Topsham Fair Ground during the week of the Topsham Fair.

Aroostook CountyThe Clubs members sponsor affiliated rides at various locations, which are a minimum of 3 hours of trail riding. This is an excellent way to get guided tours all over the state. At the end of the summer we hold an annual awards banquet. Awards are given to members who accumulate a minimum of 16 hours of riding time during that year, on our affiliated rides.

Club meetings are usually held the second Saturday of the month with a social hour starting at 7 p.m. and the meeting starting at 7:30 p.m. at the club house.

For more information on MTR's activities, please contact one of the club officials.
